Received the DVD the other day, and I watched it with the (very entertaining) commentary last night. I honestly cannot remember the last time I saw the story (probably when it came out on VHS). It was nice to see it again with something of a "fresh eye". It has never been one of my favorites, but I found myself really enjoying it this time around. ( Read more... )

I'm taking a break from fan editing to tackle the monumental task of completing my first-ever reconstruction: the lost 7-part epic Marco Polo. It's proving to be quite laborious and requires a hell of a lot of patience. But I'm about halfway through the first episode, and I think the results are rather nice. Quite possibly my very favorite Colin Baker story, this proved to be a fun one to edit. It took three days to create a movie-length cut, seamlessly reinstating the three deleted scenes featured amongst the extras on the official DVD, as well as using the CGI special effects. A romantic fairytale might make most "Doctor Who" fans balk. After all, this is an adventure in time and space--not a soap opera. Now that's more like it! 'Tooth and Claw' is a story so superior in every way to 'New Earth'--the one which immediately preceded it--that it's difficult to believe that they were both part of the same series, let alone the same season.
